but i dont wanna be a pirate!

why does every item of clothing from express have to have at least one ruffle on it?? i bought 2 shirts in a rush today, without really trying them on. bad move. the ruffles are obnoxious. i don't understand why they have to be there!

this is what matt had to say about a pix msg of the shirt:
i think its super cute! but it is pretty ruffly i wouldnt wear it in public
its like jerry seinfeld's pirate shirt

i should probably just not shop at express anymore, but banana republic and j.crew are too expensive. although after working overtime at baxter + my hours at wildfire, i will have the $$ for a well deserved shopping spree. i need to clean out my closet and start afresh. i think the look i'm going for is classic, american sportswear with a little edge for the weekends. blacks, whites, grays, and navys. very adventurous, i know. look out. but i just want clothes that i will still love after wearing 4 times, and can mix with everything in my closet.

related clothing rant: why is every shirt so baggy and blousey?? i may be in the minority, but i hate that style. i just look bigger. please give me fitted and structured over loose and blah. except in summer lazing dresses. those can be as flowy and loose as possible. i need the coverage, since i will most likely be drinking many beers and consuming many hot dogs in these dresses.

but now i'm just mad that i have to go all the way back to express and return the shirts, and i will feel super bad if the guy that helped me pick them out is there, because he was really nice... maybe i can bribe someone else into doing it for me. or sell them to my sister. cuz she LOVES ruffles. and flowy shirts. how are we related?

  1. Have you ever shopped at Anne Taylor Loft before? It's like my new favorite store. It similar to Express except the fabrics are nicer. It's a little pricey but their sale section is usually well stocked!
