irrational fears

a couple days ago, 2 birds were loose in the office. it was terrifying, to say the least. it got me thinking of my (many) irrational fears. here is a semi-comprehensive list. i say semi because they are constantly evolving. see a few posts below re: me being fickle.

+fish (i'm getting better though! i no longer have panic attacks when near fish, or have fish nightmares where they flop on me and kill me)
+birds
+butterflies
+spiders
+walking sticks/praying mantises (manti??)
+frogs
+really, any creature that has more than 4 legs. and isn't furry.
+using toothpicks. i'm scared that i will suddenly trip or someone will run into me while i'm using one and i will choke on it/get it lodged in my throat/stab a hole through my tongue
+the dark
+nail files (it physically hurts me to see/hear people filing their nails)

surprisingly, things i am not scared of include rats/mice, being in a car accident or plane crash, being broke, or dying alone. all of these things are far more realistic and likely to happen, but clearly i live in a fantasy world.
