also, i forgot to mention that i went to the chicago police department's evidence and property retrieval building to get my shit back. (and yes, it was just as shady as you'd expect it to be)
the things missing from my purse were: an apple, deck of cards, carabiner keychain thing (all my keys were taken off and placed back in my purse, though), $30 cash, and my phone.
my credit cards were not missing, however. guess these thieves know enough not to mess around with identity theft. also: i just spent a good minute trying to figure out how to spell "thieves". kept typing in variations of "thiefs". it's official, my brain has turned all it's energy and focus into learning science and lost the english/grammar/spelling abilities. lynn, if you are reading...please tell me which "it's" is the correct one. when do you use the apostrophe? help!
the cash and phone are obvious, but the fact that someone saw the carabiner and was like omg i need this, but was sober-ish/nice-ish? enough to take off the keys and put them back in the bag before abandoning it in the alley confuse me. also, that was a new deck of cards :( i can never hold onto those buggers for longer than a week, except for my 4 year old bright pink cards which are beer soaked and missing a few cards. why do i never lose those? and finally, the apple. who eats an apple out of a stranger's purse? but leaves the diet coke? i would drink the dc before eating the apple, that's for sure.
omg i love you. it's = it is.
